Admissions Criteria
Equivalent to a 2.0 grade point average at home university (on a 4.0 scale).
English language proficiency equivalent to 61 iBT TOEFL or 6.0 IELTS scores (unless native English speaker, or language of instruction at home university is English).
Approval from home university to study abroad at USC Upstate.
Transcript from home university.

Course Enrollment and Visa Requirements
Admitted visiting or exchange students at USC Upstate will be enrolled as short-term, non-degree seeking students on a J-1 Exchange Student visa category. Students who satisfy enrollment requirements and pre-requisites may choose from any courses available in the corresponding semester at USC Upstate. Students will need to obtain pre-approval from their home university faculty for the transferability of course credits earned at USC Upstate. Upon completion of their semester or year abroad at USC Upstate, students will receive a “Certificate of Recognition” issued by the Center for International Studies at USC Upstate. Exchange students who complete a degree program of study at USC Upstate will also participate in the graduation ceremony with all other USC Upstate students.
Academics
Visiting and study abroad students, may choose courses from any area of study for which they satisfy pre-requisites. Students who are seeking admission into dual degree programs will need to follow the pre-approved course list according to university articulation agreement(s). Financial
Following is an estimated list of costs that visiting international students should plan for one semester of study abroad at the University of South Carolina Upstate. Students from partner universities who are accepted into the exchange program receive a tuition waiver (do not pay tuition). The following estimated costs* reflect the amounts for 2017- 2018 academic year and are subject to change as approved by the university’s board of trustees.
